IMG_1461Here in the western hemisphere we are in the season of winter which began with the powerful energies of the solstice. Many people have difficulty with the long, dark days; difficulties manifested sometimes as depression, sun affected disorder (SAD), fatigue, and just general lethargy. In late fall I made a decision to shift my resistance to the darkness of winter into acceptance and empowerment. My internal decision was to commit to sit daily and delve into these energies.

The spiritual power available during this season is profound. This lack of external light provides an opportunity, if we are willing, to go deeply into our own inner dark womb. There are no distractions found there, only a feeling of being held and nourished within the body of our Earth Mother.

As this practice has continued there is a growing understanding that what is really happening is true internal spiritual alchemy. The ancient alchemists were said to be able to transform a base metal like lead into gold using fire as the transformative vehicle. Perhaps this actually took place but these legends were understood to be allegorical teachings. They instruct us how to transform our lower, base human instincts into a more purified, refined self that is able to house more of our light and Spirit within. Being willing to go into our own internal darkness or lower self begins the process of changing our lead into gold. It is the process of Self-Mastery.

It is our human nature to resist going into the depths of this dark place. It can be scary and very uncomfortable to recognize the disconnect: “Who we Think we are is Not who we REALLY are ”

This awareness is the true gift of doing this practice during the depths of winter when the energy of introspection is so available to us. By coming into a more authentic understanding of who we are, there can be a softening, surrendering and opening into new ways of being that are more in alignment with our higher Self. It is a time to go beyond thought, to connect with our own inner light and Divinity. Resting in this awareness allows us to let go of old attachments, to release outmoded beliefs, identifications and conditioned responses to life. This is the process of beginning our own inner alchemy. The lack of external sunlight takes us into a place of darkness that reveals our own true nature, our Divine flame and I AM presence.

What I have noticed is there is greater internal peace and contentment present within me. There is more patience and the ability to be more present rather than angry and resentful when the days seem gray and gloomy. It is a daily reminder that if I am willing to sit and go within, I am able to find and build my own internal light. This practice builds self-discipline and creates more balance. It becomes harder to pull me off my base and get drawn into distracting dramas playing out.

This process of inner spiritual refinement continues throughout our lifetime but there is great joy of being able to hold more of your own light and being able to shine that light brightly forth into the world. All Light-Workers are being called to shine brighter than ever before. By using the gift of this season we can begin the process of our own beautiful inner self-alchemy, becoming more gold and able to be a beacon of light with each passing day. Spiritual high alchemy indeed!!!

Great reminder from Kristin on honoring the beauty of the season!

The September 23 Equinox of perfect balance between light and dark has just passed and the gentle slide into the shorter days of autumn begins.

October is my favorite time of year because the cool, crisp weather reinvigorates in a multitude of ways. I find myself constantly drawn towards the extraordinarily deep, deep blue of the sky that seems so vividly crystal clear.

Nature seems somehow more enhanced with the depth of colors richer, sharper, as if there is a quickening occurring. The tree kingdom lavishes us with its annual miraculous display of the leaves changing colors and painting the landscape with a breathtakingly beautiful palette!

While visiting Vermont recently in the middle of the gorgeous foliage season, I was struck with such a profound sense of inner peace, contentment and appreciation for all of this creative and abundant display.

The reflected glory of the deep blue sky and the painted trees on the river below are like mirrors of the inner beauty of our authentic Soul. Fall is a season when we are frequently stopped dead in our tracks while going about our ordinary life, to simply stop, become still and present to the beauty surrounding and unfolding before us.

The garden transitions into the final harvesting of herbs and vegetables that have been planted early in the summer and we savor the final flavors of freshly picked perfect tomatoes just off the vine. October is a perfect time to reflect on what it is you would like to harvest from your own inner garden.

What seeds of intention and action did you plant early, fertilize well and watch grow this year?

This is the time to gather the fruits of your endeavors and bring them home into an uplifted and freer sense of self. All the birds and animals know to start gathering for the winter and preparing for a shift.

I am reminded that the Native Americans refer to the tree kingdom as “the one leggeds” because they are so deeply rooted into the earth. As the transition continues this month, it is wise to emulate the changing trees, grounded into the center of the earth and able to gently shift without being knocked off our base!

May you find time to savor the sheer staggering beauty and immense creativity bursting all around us during this magical month!

This has been a year of tremendous change for all and the month of October demonstrates eloquently how gracefully we can embrace transitions in life. Instead of resisting the shifting and required changes, what if we can flow with the energy of the season, fully receiving all the abundance it offers with gratitude and open abandon?

Beginning with the New Year, there seems to be a theme appearing of accelerated chaos both collectively and personally. There is a sense of many layers unraveling in what we think of as our shared “Reality.”  The polarization of opposites has gotten to an extreme in virtually every category conceivable.

Family, friends and clients have shared their stories of how they feel increasingly out of balance and easily knocked off base. Working with an energy/healing practitioner supports and accelerates the process of balancing and stabilizing our physical, mental, emotional and spiritual self to create a new stable platform.

The challenge of living on this beautiful planet Earth, and perhaps one reason we are here (!), is the experience of living in a world of seeming opposites. Many are currently experiencing illness instead of health, unknown causes of anxiety instead of inner peace, confusion versus clarity, lethargy instead of vibrant energy, and inertia versus focused action. It can feel as if we are riding on a roller coaster being tossed in every direction moving at top speed. Hard to stay in the saddle and not be thrown off!

An image I find useful when I start to feel like the ground has shifted under my feet and out of balance, is being a surfer RIDING ON TOP of the wave rather than being TUMBLED under the turbulence and crashing on the shore. Surfing requires constantly shifting one’s sense of balance to anticipate the changing nature of the wave we are on. We can use that image to create the healing and balance we are seeking in our life.

The challenge and ultimate goal of all healing modalities is to create and maintain the centering energy to sustain us no matter what the universe throws our way.

Polarity Therapy calls that state of balance “neutral” energy, Craniosacral Therapy terms it “the still point,” Non-Dual healing calls it “the central column,” and Quantum Healing refers to balance as “the pranic or central tube.” In all cases it is the lived experience of actually being like the Yin/Yang, the balance of opposing forces both within and without.

Nothing is ever all light or dark. At some point in our life the urge to find the center point of balance is an innate and driving force. That urge compels us to deeply look within and perhaps begin to work with a healing practitioner to focus on the underlying causes of imbalance.

Perhaps we need to explore our hidden belief systems operating below the level of our awareness. Maybe there is a sense of living on autopilot that no longer serves us or feels acceptable. No matter where you begin this process, truly finding and sustaining a sense of inner balance can completely transform your life. Some things are under our control and some things are not. Either way, there is always a choice of whether or how we RESPOND versus REACT to any situation.

The more stable and balanced a platform we learn to create for ourselves, the easier our ability to discern when things feel like they are heading in a direction that calls for a different response and perhaps requires a course correction.

Just like the surfer riding that big wave, we can begin to read the incoming signs and make the necessary adjustments to live from a more grounded, balanced and empowered center.

The rewards of doing so are immeasurable!

Now that the season of Spring has officially arrived with the equinox, it is startling to realize that I seem to unconsciously hold my breath all winter long until the days become lighter and brighter. It’s like I have been waiting to exhale and suddenly feel an infusion of fresh vibrant juicy energy!

Spring always heralds the rebirth of the plants, trees and blossoms, the birds returning from warmer climes and animals coming out of hiding and hibernation.

As humans, the more attuned we are to the rhythms and cycles of Nature, the more our body automatically seeks to mirror what is happening to plants and creatures all around us both internally and externally. There seems to be a palpable increase in energy that makes us want to be outside more in nature, to renew ourselves in shifting from going within during the winter, to vigorously thrusting up out of the earth like the daffodils and tulips.

The foods I choose to nourish my body with have changed with the season. I need more greens, especially bitter greens, lighter meals and protein and lots more water, like the rains that feed the plants emerging anew. Instead of meditating in my healing room, I want to be outside walking and smelling the fragrance of the earth and hear the birds singing.  The choices that we make in these shifts can help support both an increase in our physical stamina as well as the balancing of our subtle body energy.

Here are a few suggestions that might assist in making a smooth transition into the vibrant and refreshing energy of Spring time.

  • Tune into your body and ask what it really needs RIGHT NOW. Don’t assume the foods you wanted last year are what’s needed this year. You might be surprised! Some people have said they need much more, or much less protein than usual. Probably everyone can benefit from increased veggies and greens. Be willing to experiment with your diet.
  • What kind of exercise appeals to you NOW? We tend to go about our day and do the same routine on autopilot. Your body might be asking for more yoga, or more physical activity like running, weight training, bicycling or maybe even kick-boxing! Again be willing to experiment and be surprised.
  • Do you always plant the same type of flowers every year? Consider a different look or color palette that might kick the energy up a few notches. The colors you surround yourself with effect the energy greatly and there is enormous pleasure in being immersed in a beautiful natural setting.
  • Do you feel the same as you did at the beginning of winter? Probably not. What kind of look reflects who you are now? Maybe different colors in your wardrobe, different haircut or color, or even a whole new look! What reflects who you are NOW?
  • Lastly, something we all know and probably don’t do: Spring clean your house AND your body. Cleaning the house is like detoxing the body. It helps us start with a fresh slate with renewed healthier energy, better sleep, and enjoyment of our external surroundings.

Spring is a time of sex, passion, fertility and juiciness in the animal kingdom. Human beings are part of that kingdom! How do you wish to express your passion and creativity? Whether you suddenly wish to paint, take a dance class, get married, have a baby, start a new business or job, all of it comes from the creative juices of passion and is heightened during this season.

Traditional Chinese Medicine refers to the spring energy as elevated liver chi energy. It represents the thrusting up of plants out of the ground, increased sexual energy, and either excitement or anger if the energy is distorted.

The more we are able to be present with our whole self now, the better we are able to navigate and use this new empowering spring energy.  Perhaps it’s time to make the needed changes to let go of things, people or habits that really no longer serve us.  This new year and new season gives us the empowerment and drive to fully support whatever new expression of self is desired to rebirth and renew from within and without.

Happy Spring to all!

The Floral Hand of God
by Dr. Brent W. Davis

The Floral Hand of God was recommended to me and once I got started I couldn’t put it down. The flowers literally talk to the author and people would show up out of the blue to take him to remote places to find rare plants. The tale is compelling and the esoteric questions he asks along the way I found to be very provocative personally. Got me thinking in some interesting new ways.

This book is a fascinating read about the secret healing codes of flowers that are present now and how the frequencies and energies can be extracted using a totally new technique that does not harm the plant. The book is the result of Dr. Davis’ personal quest to find flower essences that enable one to heal and transform at the cellular and spiritual level. It is both beautifully written and deeply provocative.

Part 1 describes peak experiences in his continuing search in the realm of flowers for essences that respond to the law of attraction, to draw to our self the experience of greater love, understanding, and appreciation in our life.

Part 2 presents landmark scientific discoveries relating to the mode of extraction. It penetrates the mysteries of the spiritual mind, examining leading edge theories in quantum biology and physics to explain how selected flower frequencies may install spiritual impulses to improve our life at a rate faster than the speed of light!

Part 3 concludes with a self-help rapid reference. It describes the manner in which selected flower frequencies can infuse us with codes of light that allow us to receive more love, and transmute what has held us back in life.

E-Squared
by Pam Grout

This book about experiments in reality was just plain fun. Pam is a hilarious writer and scientist so she constructed these experiments to prove this for herself. I tried them all and they are simple yet really fun to do and see what shows up!

Nine do-it-yourself energy experiments that prove your thoughts really do create your reality! E-Squared could best be described as a lab manual with simple experiments that prove reality is malleable, consciousness trumps matter, and you shape your life with your mind.

The nine experiments, each of which can be conducted with absolutely no money and very little time expenditure, demonstrate that spiritual principles are as dependable as gravity, as consistent as Newton’s laws of motion. E-Squared invites you to prove the following principles:

-There is an invisible energy force or field of infinite possibilities.
-You impact the field and draw from it according to your beliefs and expectations.
-Your connection to the field provides accurate and unlimited guidance.
-The universe is limitless, abundant, and strangely accommodating!

Pam Grout is a very funny writer and is able to combine humor with profound wisdom. Enjoy!
